SOFIE is a 3 year research project, which was launched in April 2007. The SOFIE project is based in the Department of Education and International Development at the Institute of Education, University of London.

It is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID)-Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Joint Scheme.
